Spring Poppies

Today’s outfit is inspired by one of my favourite spring flowers (the poppy) and my current colour obsession – anything peach/orange/flame/red…

As a designer and colour forecaster I tend to get pretty obsessed with colours and currently I’m crushing hard on bright warm tones that bring an extra bit of joy to my everyday fashion.

I’m also really enjoying playing with colour more harmoniously in my outfits (using tonal colours together or colours that sit next to each other on the colour wheel). Perhaps a little technical, but the past few weeks I’ve been travelling around Australia as part of a trend forecasting tour and have become totally obsessed with all things colour.

Designer Profile – Obus

With the warmer days settling in (finally), my wardrobe always tends to get a little more adventurous.
Spring and summer always encourage me to experiment with pattern and colour in particular, and Obus has become a firm favourite go-to label for bold prints and fun colour ways.

Coveted Closets – Pre-loved Fashion Sale

Words by  The Fashion Advocate

Australians send 6000kg of fashion and textile waste to the tip every ten minutes. We’re throwing out more than half a million tonnes of clothing (enough to fill the Melbourne Cricket Ground two and half times) every single year, and we’re wasting precious resources in the process.

Tackling a pile of unwanted clothes as big as the MCG might seem impossible, but when we stop to open our own wardrobe doors and start buying better, it is an issue we can solve collectively.

On Sunday 20th October 2019, we’ll be doing just that – solving fashion industry waste and diverting fashion from landfill.

Gingham & Sparkles

What I love about fashion and style is how it has the ability to make you feel things. Strong, confident, happy…

This year I set myself a goal to introduce more colour into my wardrobe. Colour makes me feel bright, alive, creative. And this outfit was a delight to put together!

Bringing together some of my favourite labels, this outfit is meant as a celebration of spring. A little different to what I am used to wearing. Definitely more girly than my usual outfits, but that’s what I love about style… you can experiment and have fun with it!

KHÒLÒ – ASRC Tote Collaboration

Fashion that does good is the best type of fashion!

If you hadn’t already heard the news during Refugee Week (which took place last month between the 16th-22nd June), you may have seen some snaps of KHÒLÒ’s gorgeous Melbourne designed totes pop up on your social media feeds.  But these beautiful bags are much more than pretty eye candy, they are also raising hope and funds for people in need.

Chunky Bright Knit

Nothing brightens up a cold winter’s day like a pop of colour. It can be cold, windy, rainy and bleak outside, but if I am wearing colour I instantly feel more energised and alive.

I also really struggle to get out of bed during the winter months, so throwing on a cozy, chunky knit also makes the mornings a lot easier to deal with. That’s why today’s beautiful and chunky knit by Obus is currently on high rotation.

A Kimono Jumpsuit for Curves

Being a ‘curvy’ gal there are some items of clothing that I sometimes struggle to wear.

High neck dresses, low rise pants and crop tops are on my personal ‘no-go’ list, however it is the elusive jumpsuit that I’ve always coveted but have never been able to style to my liking. That is until now…
