A Statement Jacquard Jacket

There’s a kind of style super power that comes with wearing an epic statement jacket and it is very simply obtained the moment you pop it on.

You can, in theory, start with a very no nonsense neutral outfit (in this case black and navy), ‘just add statement jacket’ and boom… instant elevated style.

Aacute – Bloom Collection

One of my favourite Melbourne jewellery brands Aacute, is at it again with a brand spanking new collection of design focused jewellery.  As always the new Bloom collection delivers unique shapes and creative colour combinations and finishes that are playful and stylish.

I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on a few pairs and can’t wait to share them in my style posts over the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

Read on below for my super quick-fire interview with designer Julie Tran, as we discuss the new collection and the very best way to wear the new styles.

Winter Plaid

I’ve been really enjoying winter this year, which if you know me at all is a huge statement. I loathe the cold, wind and rain. However a good quality and stylish winter coat definitely helps me get by this time of year.

I’ve also been particularly obsessed with plaids, tartan and checks of late, something which will likely become very apparent on the blog in the upcoming weeks.

As patterns they are timeless, and can be worn with pretty much anything. So the perfect mix of a plaid and a warm winter coat was too hard to resist…

Artist Profile – Georgie Daphne

When I think of Georgie Daphne’s work I cannot help but smile. Her designs are full of bright bold colour and hand painted botanicals that are beautiful and fun.

Originally from Western Australia, Georgie made a move to Melbourne 18 years ago to study textile design at RMIT (fun fact – I studied with Georgie at the time), and honed her skills as a designer working for a range of well known Australian retailers for over 10 years.

Denimsmith x Vege Threads Signature Collection

Over the past few years I have really changed the way that I consume fashion. I’m always on the look out for local labels who are supporters of ethical practices and production. I have stopped consuming fast fashion as a whole and instead now invest my money in brands that offer timeless style in good quality materials.

I think I can confidently state that a great pair of jeans is a must have in any wardrobe so I was stoked to hear that Melbourne based denim brand, Denimsmith had teamed up with  Melbourne based organic everyday wear brand, Vege Threads to create a limited  signature collection,  made of eco-friendly denim fibres designed to suit all body shapes with comfort, ease and style.

Celebrating 25 Years of Shea Butter at The Body Shop

This post has been created in collaboration with The Body Shop

Many of you would know The Body Shop’s ‘Shea Nourishing Body Butter’.  It was a staple beauty product of most young women growing up in the 90’s and 00’s. It was definitely one of my ‘must have’ products as it had many benefits. It was affordable, nourishing and also smelled amazing. Three things that still stand true today.

However something I was not aware of back then, and have been so pleased to learn recently, is that this cult status beauty product is made with a very special ingredient that is empowering women and changing their lives for the better. Shea Butter ofcourse!

A few weeks ago I was extremely lucky to attend an event at The Body Shop, to celebrate 25 years of Shea Butter and women empowerment!
