The Day-to-Night Top

LILT BLOG BACK TO BASICS 02Neutral Top 01

Last week I wore the A-line skirt  featured in today’s post much more casually, but this week I was wanting to create a dressier outfit that I could wear out during the evening.

Enter the Day-to-Night Top … It’s pretty straight forward, the kind of tops that I put under this category are tops that can be worn during the day, like to a work meeting, but also dressed up for night-time events, such as dinners or parties.

Bally Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear

Considering that purple is one of my least favourite colours, I’m quite surprised that Bally has turned out to be one of my favourite shows of Milan Fashion Week.

It’s the combination of colours that really makes the purple work for me here. Combinations of forest and violet, mustard and plum, with neutrals thrown in for balance.

The Basic T-Shirt 2

And so the journey begins…

Today is day #1 of the #liltblogbacktobasics series and we’re going to talk about the classic, simple, and trusty t-shirt.

This unassuming wardrobe basic, can easily be mistaken as merely something to wear with trackies whilst watching movie marathons on a Sunday afternoon, but really it is so much more than this.

J.Crew Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear

In my fashion dreams I always look as chic as a J.Crew model. Adorning layers of masculine shirts, textures, colours and patterns.

I’m not usually one for too many sparkles, but I absolutely love the way J.Crew has incorporated bling into this collection, in the way of metallic finishes, fringing and chunky sequins. Definitely the right way to do bling in my books.
