The A-Line Skirt

LILT BLOG BACK TO BASICS 02A-line skirt 03
Last week we talked about the humble basic t-shirtToday I introduced a simple but gorgeous a-line skirt into my wardrobe.

One of the items in my dream wardrobe checklistthe a-line skirt is the perfect garment to dress up a t-shirt like I have done here.

For this shape, I prefer to keep things no shorter than above the knee, This beautiful Gorman skirt has such a flattering silhouette. It is made of a heavy cotton which means it is perfect for day wear (say to the office for example), but also lends itself to be teamed up with more dressier tops if you prefer to style it for an evening event (more on this next week)

When picking an a-line skirt I think the more volume the better. Think 50’s silhouettes, cropped at the shin.  Perfectly classic, chic and versatile.

Do you own an a-line skirt? I would absolutely love to see your take on this flattering shape.

If you want to play along, I’d love for you to take a quick snap of your “a-line skirt outfit” and post it on Instagram with the hashtag #liltblogbacktobasics , that way l can follow along. I’ll be doing the same so make sure you follow me on Instagram HERE for all my back to basics outfits!

And if you don’t have Instagram, why don’t you leave a comment below and let me know, How are you planning to style your a-line skirt?

  2. Such a great Smart Casual outfit, hun!

I’ve a Bento (sadly now defunct) skirt in the same shape which I’ve just recently dug out to create outfits just like this – how genius are skirts that have pockets?!
