IDENTITY Presented by The Fashion Advocate

In just 3 weeks time VAMFF will be upon us, and as a long time follower of The Fashion Advocate, I am super excited to attend IDENTITY – a runway show presented by Claire Goldsworthy, super boss lady extraordinaire, ethical blogger and founder of The Fashion Advocate.

The Australian fashion identity is diverse. It is our history. It is our future. Our fashion identity defines us.

On Saturday March 2nd, Designers from all corners of the country will come together in the name of fashion and share their identity through one medium that we all understand: clothing. We all wear it, we all buy it, we all use it to shape our own identity.

Through fashion and design, Claire Goldsworthy advocates for social justice, environmental sustainability, and global equality.

“Every designer in The Fashion Advocate community is unique, individual and independent, but together, we stand as a community with this shared goal.” Says Claire.

This interactive runway experience is one not to be missed. It will be the perfect afternoon to enjoy a garden party with live music, locally sourced cocktails and canapes and also give us all the opportunity to support local labels and an ethical and sustainable fashion future.

I simply cannot wait to attend this must see show as part of VAMFF and hope to see you there.

VIP tickets include front row seating, a four-hour drinks package and a VIP gift bag full of ethical and sustainable treats from local brands and businesses.

Tickets are limited so don’t wait! And make sure you come say hi on the day!

Tickets can be purchased here.

Please read on below for some quick fire questions with Claire from The Fashion Advocate as we discuss the IDENTITY runway show.

Hi Claire, We cannot wait to attend the IDENTITY show as part of VAMFF this year. Can you please tell us a little bit about the concept behind the IDENTITY theme?

IDENTITY has been a long time in the making. It’s almost a rebirth of sorts, but kind of something that’s always been – and that’s the crux of the show. We’re always working towards ‘better’ for our industry, but we’ve always been ourselves in doing that. It’s a constant transition, yet an unwavering set of values. It’s quite hard to put in words, but it’s something that becomes tangible on the runway. When a bunch of likeminded people come together for a good cause, trying to change the entire industry for the better – it’s magical, and we ourselves out there for the world to see. It’s our identity, our passion, our craft, our values – it’s us.

What local designers can we expect to see on the night?

I am so excited about this year’s lineup! You can view them all here, and as a collective, they are one incredible group of designers. Some are travelling hours from Western Australia, some base themselves minutes from Como House, but they’re all coming together for the greater good, to showcase what good fashion really looks like.

In your opinion what is the best way to develop ones own fashion IDENTITY?

Be yourself. Wear what you want to wear, what feels good, and think about the impact. Clothes are personal, and when you’re proud of what you’re wearing because it’s made ethically, it really shows. Shaping your own fashion identity is about what you value and what you want to say with your outfit. If you want to make a statement, you can do that through fashion. If you want to change the world, you can do that through fashion. Wear your values!

Anything else you’d like to add?

I’m really grateful for your support Luci, you’re super lovely! I can’t wait to share the evening with you, and everyone else that’s coming. It’s a huge production, but in the moment when you take away the glitz and glam of it all and all the bright lights, it’s just a group of people coming together to make a difference, who all care about what’s happening in the industry – and who care about making fashion good again. That’s beautiful, and I’m so excited to be a part of it myself!
