This year, Kuwaii’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection ‘Chronicle’ aims to tell the story of the brand itself by celebrating many of Kuwaii’s most loved archival silhouettes.
Not a single new silhouette was created for the new collection, instead the focus for Kuwaii’s designer Kristy Barber, was to stand by the brands principle that clothing doesn’t need to be trend based, and can be timeless; built to last and be loved.
‘The design process in itself had started to feel intrinsically wasteful’ , explains Kristy, ’Every 6 months we re-invented the wheel with no time for thoughtful reflection. Design for design’s sake had started to feel empty, exhausting and pointless’
Instead past silhouettes are reinvented in fresh colours and a print collaboration with artist Charlotte Alldis.
‘Charlotte’s paintings are so full of emotion, love and joy. In fact, I have looked toward this print over the dark months of winter to inspire myself, keep strength and faith, and keep looking forward.’ Says Kristy.
Such a strong message as we move onwards from what has been a challenging year for all.
