Simétrie – Sisterly Collection

In the making since the first lockdown in Melbourne, Simétrie is so proud to release the Sisterly Collection, made in collaboration with SisterWorks – a social enterprise that supports female refugees, asylum seekers or migrants to become economically empowered.

The collection showcases a range of handcrafted linen canvas bags in colours ranging from a pastel lavender, a heavenly olive, a warm tan bark hue and classic night black.

The Sisterly Tote is printed with artwork by the talented illustrative artist Bianca Balliro, which pays homage to the beautifully diverse female form and the connection of sisterhood, with the logos of both brands ( Simétrie & Sister Works) hand drawn together next to the two women.

Simétrie Founder Simone Agius explains, that originally this collection was to be produced by the talented sewer, Amira – a SisterWorks member – however due to COVID-19 and Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne, it was decided to put this on hold to ensure the safety of Amira and the other SisterWorks members.

The first production run of the Sisterly Collection has been made instead by Simone herself, in order to release the collection, with 10% of sales going back to SisterWorks to honour the collaboration.

The partnership hopes that the initial response to the collection is an indication to reproduce the Sisterly styles with Amira behind the sewing machine in Simétrie’s Brunswick atelier once COVID restrictions ease.

It is the perfect partnership as both entities work under the same ethos, made with love in Melbourne, and both aim to empower women through creative work.
