Local & Affordable Artists you can support right now.

Spending more time at home means I’ve had a lot of time to consider my living space and currently have a huge urge to re-decorate, or at least freshen up our home interior.

There are so many different ways to freshen up an interior space, but one of the simplest and most effective ways is to introduce art to your walls.

My husband Grange is an illustrator, and I am a textile designer so its pretty ludicrous that we don’t currently art on our walls. However as previously mentioned, since we moved into our new place I’ve been fantasising of covering our walls with local art and today I’ve put together a list of some of my favourite artists that will help brighten up your home.

Lei Lei Clavey is someone I work with often as she takes a lot of the photos for Lilt Blog’s style shoots. She is an amazing photographer and recently released some beautiful prints as part of her ‘Melbourne in the time of Corona’ series which are now available in a range of sizes and in both colour & black and white. Shop the collection here.

Georgie Daphne is a textile designer and illustrator based in Melbourne. She creates colourful & bold artworks made with a range of mediums including gouache, watercolour, ink, acrylics, & collage. I recently purchased her “Buchanan Blue Wattle” print and cannot wait to frame and hang it up on my wall. You can shop Georgie’s artwork here.

Angus Martin is a Sydney based artist. His work is figurative, and influenced by colour psychology, inspiring Angus to balance hues from light to dark in order to evoke emotions from his audience. Original artworks are created with acrylic and ink, with prints also available at his online shop.

Initially trained as a sculptor and having later completed a Bachelor in Textile Design, Amy Wright is a talented Designer and Artist who creates the most beautiful abstract landscape painting as and drawings. Amy works in mixed media – predominately oil, acrylic and prismacolour pencil – and has original artworks and limited edition prints available for sale via her website.

Kelly Thompson is a New Zealand illustrator living in Melbourne and creating beautiful, feminine and detailed artworks featuring beautiful botanical arrangements and sensual female forms. Kelly works with many different businesses to bring her creativity to life, but lucky for us some personal artworks are also available for purchase on her website.

I don’t think I’d be a very good wife if I didn’t include my uber talented husband’s art in this post. I promise I’m not just being biased! Grange Wallis is a commercial artist and creates his incredibly detailed illustrations digitally. My personal favourite artworks are part of his ‘Urban Zoo’ series and are available for purchase online.
