My top knitwear picks for the cooler months ahead

Brrrr, it’s definitely getting colder out there, and with the change of pace and additional hours spent safely at home, I’ve been craving the comfort and warmth of great, quality knitwear.

There’s nothing quite like a big warm clothes hug from a cozy knit, so I’ve put together a list of my favourite go to labels for great knitwear finds. I hope you enjoy.

AFFORDABLE & EASY-WEAR

Feather & Noise

I’ve only recently become acquainted with Feather & Noise, and purchased some of their knitwear, however the brand has a cult following of women who are after affordable everyday clothing of all styles, and for all shapes & sizes.

As a new convert and fan I can confidently say that their knitwear is comfortable, versatile, and perfect for everyday wear. Not to mention affordable too!

Feather & Noise also updates their styles regularly so you can keep your wardrobe up to date any time of the year.

Uniqlo

A trusty go-to for easy, timeless, no-nonsense pieces. Uniqlo always stocks great affordable knitwear in a variety of styles and colours.

My tip is stick to the merino wool and cashmere as they pill less than some of the other fabrications and therefore last longer. More bang for your buck.

COLOURFUL & FUN

Loris

Self described as a one-woman show, Designer Lisa, from Loris knitwear hand knits every single item of clothing in her own living room, making each piece of Loris knitwear incredibly special and sought after.

Lisa’s process always begins with colour. From an ever-growing collection of wool, cotton and other yarns, she picks a colour palette and from there she knits intuitively and organically. This means that no two LORIS garments will ever be the same.

As pieces are one off, they sell quickly, but custom orders are also available. You can purchase her designs on the Loris website and also at The Fashion Advocate.

Gorman

You can always trust on Gorman to deliver fun pattern and bold colour in all their clothing, and this also extends to their knitwear range.

Always experimental and oh so comfy, this trusted Melbourne brand will have your fun knitwear needs sorted in a flash.

LOCAL LABELS

Uimi

Uimi, is a Melbourne based knitwear label manufacturing a range of slow fashion and textiles from natural fibres. I particularly love their use of colour and sophisticated silhouettes.

Luxurious knits include chunky ponchos, jersey tops, jumpers and outerwear. Made from premium Australian merino wool for warmth & comfort.

They also design and produce beautiful blankets, accessories and kids-wear.

Loré Loré

Local Melbourne label Loré Loré specialises in handcrafted accessories & small production exclusively utilising locally sourced materials, truly bringing it back to the art of the craft.

Beanies, turbans, scarves & gloves are carefully crafted taking particular attention to detail; from colour and yarn selection to garment design, production and finishing. Every item a piece of art in its own right.

LUXURY

Toorallie

Founded in 1990 Toorallie is the next chapter in a family’s long tradition of working with elite Merino wool and is a knitwear brand that you can trust.

They specialise in designing and producing high quality Merino products and have expanded their range beyond traditional knitwear to include MERINO-DENIM™, t-shirts, polos, merino-twill, merino-fleece, and bamboo-merino blends. Such great fibre innovation.

Their styles are classic, sophisticated and timeless, so you can rest assured that garments you invest in will last many seasons, and they are available for both men and women.

Viktoria & Woods

Signature to Victoria & Woods, their premium Australian merino knitwear, superfine knits and cotton cashmere blends are the building blocks of a fashionable modern wardrobe.

The versatile staples offer a range of relaxed and slim shapes perfect for layering day to night. All while looking chic and stylish.
