Checks & Sonnets

I genuinely love fabric and clothing.

Ever since I was a little girl I have been obsessed with the feel of fabric. It’s what has led me to work with textiles in my day-to-day life.

Often when I am shopping or ‘just having a look’, I’ll become taken with either a pattern, colour or texture featured in a garment. In this case it was every element.

This beautiful Obus ‘Sonnet’ dress is made with the most luxurious wool/viscose mix fabric. It’s super soft and warm, not only in function but also in its aesthetic. A beautiful autumnal colour palette and timeless check pattern (as I have recently mentioned, I am very much into plaid at the moment).

I also particularly love any dress that makes me feel ‘dressed up’ and comfortable at the same time –  this dress definitely does both. The smock shape and relaxed fit means it’s no fuss, yet the colour, pattern and silhouette are stylish and on-trend. My favourite mix when it comes to clothes.

We’re right in the thick of winter so today I have layered this Obus dress over a Uniqlo turtleneck and plain black stockings. Acessorised with two of my current favourite leather goods – The Avalina Leather Neoclassic Shoulder Bag and Radical Yes ‘Selkie’ Chelsea Boots in Cognac. (HOT TIP: These amazing statement boots are currently on sale too)

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean we have to dress in all black, even if we live in Melbourne. I’m learning to experiment more with colours, textures & layers and it’s so much fun.

I’d love to know your favourite way to style dresses in the colder months, let me know in the comments below. x Luciana
