Kuwaii Constance Collection

Last month, as part of  the Virgin Australia Fashion Festival, I attended ‘Kuwaii Conversations- Vol 1’.  It was a different take on the usual shows that I attend during fashion week.

Instead of a flashy runway show, Designer Kristy Barber, decided to hold an intimate and thoughtful fashion event. Inviting writers Lorelei Vashti, Peggy Frew and Lisa Mitchell to share their own stories about fashion, emotion and memory.

The conversation was meaningful, thought-provoking and emotional. I was quoted by the friendly team at Kuwaii in a recent Instagram post  stating that,  ‘I had goosebumps all over and left the event feeling uplifted & inspired instead of self-conscious and empty which sometimes happens after the ‘usual’ runway shows.’

It is the Kuwaii ethos and practice that I find so inspiring. Kristy’s commitment to thoughtful slow fashion, that is not only beautiful in its aesthetic but also meaningful and empowering.

Each and every season I look forward to seeing Kuwaii’s new collections, and this time I am even more excited as they have opened up a store right near my work!

You can explore the Constance collection at Kuwaii’s brand new store on Smith St, Fitzroy or shop the collection online
