Ricepaper the Label’s new Spring/Summer 2023 ‘Flora’ collection is a celebration of femininity, ethical practices and our relationship with the land.
Featuring Ricepaper the Label’s signature styles in lightweight fabrics that are beautiful and sustainable. The collection welcomes the warmer weather ahead whilst respecting our climate.
Today I have the pleasure of having a quick chat with Designer Eve Walton-Healey as we discuss her inspiration behind ‘Flora’ and her favourite pieces from the collection. Read on below.
Can you tell us a little bit about what has inspired the new S/S23 Collection Flora.
The core of inspiration for our Flora collection came from a focus towards climate the-ever changing surroundings we are currently living in and our relationship with the land, ethical manufacturing processes that undermine our label and inspire the female form. I named the collection Flora, as in Roman history it means the goddess of plants and thought with the main inspiration it really captured all the essence of the collection in one word.
If you could describe Flora S/S 2023 in 3 words what would they be?
Ethical, Feminine and Colourful.
What are some of the key silhouettes, colours and fabrications that we can expect from the Ricepaper this season?
Pieces can be worn in a clean minimalist manner or layered in a sensation of prints and colour. With strong attention to detail, this collection portrays playful colours and prints, feminine silhouettes and delicate layering. Guided by our chosen fabrics, textures make bold statements but also provide long term wearability. Our expansion in sizing is also a new addition to this collection, making it viable for more body shapes and sizes which will be available in a selected styles.
What are some of your personal favourite pieces from the collection?
Oh gosh, such a hard question this season, I do have quite a few. I think our Ada pant in the regenerated denim has to be up there because of it’s fabric story – we have used a light denim that has been formed from fabric waste from the Fashion industry and then been pulped into the fibre – We also have a pant coming later in the season that is more relaxed and a very cool vibe that I adore, and then of course there are our dresses not all of them are released yet but I am a fan of of our Erica and Waratah and Acadia dresses which are all new shapes for Ricepaper and are coming in a beautiful selection of colours and prints.
What are you looking forward to the most this Spring/Summer?
It’s always so exciting to see a new collection arrive in-store, I am looking forward to being able to share this one with our customers. It’s quite stunning and I feel like it translates our inspiration to the wearer quite beautifully. Another thing I am looking forward to with this collection is being able to see how it goes in a post covid spring/summer, last year we only had the shop open from mid october with Spring/Summer so it’s a new experience for me having a few extra months with it available to our customers.
