I finally visited the 200 Years of Australian Fashion exhibition at NGV Australia last weekend.
I’ve been meaning to go and see it for a while now and it didn’t disappoint.
Presented over 4 large galleries the exhibition celebrates some of Australia’s top contemporary designers including Dion Lee, Ellery,Toni Maticevski, Romance Was Born & Jenny Kee (to name a few).
It also takes a historic look over key designs in Australian fashion over the last 200 years, Starting with an evening dress from 1805 and finishing with a hypnotic installation specifically designed by Dion Lee for the exhibition.
It was really fascinating to look at the pieces in chronological order and witness the evolution of design, silhouettes and fabric use over the years due to cultural and economic change.
This exhibition is the first major survey of Australian fashion to be undertaken in this country, and is on at NGV Australia until 31st July 2016. An absolute must see!
For more information and to purchase tickets head to the NVG Australia website.
