There is no denying that the cooler weather is upon us. This past week was the first time of the year where I experienced “the winter morning struggle”…you know the one where the temperature outside of the doona feels like the most bitter cold you will ever experience, and makes you scream “FUDGE THAT!!!”?… yeah I know it’s not even winter yet…but the struggle is real!
This morning battle is certain to become more consistent over the next few months, but it gets easier with the knowledge that after a steamy hot shower, comes the promise of some snuggly winter clothes.
Enter the long cardigan.
One of my absolute must have winter staples is a good quality long cardigan. If chosen in the right fibres this garment will be your best friend all autumn/winter long. Think merino wool, angora, cashmere blends etc.
The cardi I am wearing today is LiFE with BIRD, and it is absolutely divine to touch as it is made with an angora/polyamide mix of fibres!! This means it also super warm, and comfortable…so it ticks all boxes. The reason why a long cardi is the way to go, in my opinion, is that it can also look dressier if styled correctly, so you can have the best of both worlds (which is what the whole #liltblogbacktobasics journey is about).
Today I have styled it with my new Kuwaii dress (more on this amazing bad boy next week), some tights and flats, for a more casual, but still work appropriate, look. But there is no reason why you couldn’t chuck it on with your boyfriend jeans for a lazy weekend, or dress it up with skirts or trousers.
Before I go, I want to give a shout out to my pooch friend Ralphy! He’s my friend’s dog who we happened to be taking care of last weekend and came along for the photo shoot with Grange and I! Isn’t he the most adorable little guy ever???
Have a warm and wonderful weekend everyone!

What a gorgeous shoot. I really love the photos. K
Thanks gorgeous Kristianna! xoxo
I love this post, I don’t own a long cardigan and never would have thought to purchase one (so thanks). It looks great with the dress and I love the simple trim around the ends. Kate, Wondrous
Thanks Kate!
Yeah i love the detail contrast trim on this one too, and it’s so perfect for this time of year when it is cooling down 🙂
I love your look it is so fall/ winter which I am not looking forward to but with looks like these it does make me want to pull out me boots and sweaters. I love how you paired it with your dress and BELT. I love belts!
Hey Stephie!
I hate the cold weather too! The only thing that gets me through the winter months is awesome winter fashion 😛
