Woo too! Today we have our first Blogger Profile of the year!!!
This post has been in the works for a little while and I am so excited to finally have Christina Butcher from Hair Romance on the blog. Being a huge fan of Hair Romance, I almost can’t believe it! But… here we are!
I met Christina in person last year when I attended Problogger, and have since been so intrigued by her story. A fellow curly-haired lass, Christina started Hair Romance in 2010, after a fateful haircut started a love affair with her very own mane.
After years of fighting her curly hair Christina had finally found a hairdresser that understood her hair and cut it in a way that gave her the ability to love her locks, and would eventually inspire thousands of other women to do the same.
On her world-renowned beauty blog, Christina posts quick and easy tutorials of hairstyles that any everyday woman can replicate. Christina creates and photographs each style herself, so that her readers can do the same! And her inspiring and detailed tutorials even give me the confidence to give it a go!
Christina is an incredibly talented and clever lady, with bounds of creativity, and it has to be mentioned that she is SUPER LOVELY! So if you’re needing to fall back in love with your hair you absolutely must check out her blog HERE
And if you’re ready to get creative yourself, check out the Hair Romance print book “Braids, Buns, and Twists!”
Or E-books – “30 Braids in 30 Days” , “30 Buns in 30 Days” & “30 Days of Twist & Pin Hairstyles”
Hope you have fun with your new hairstyles and in the meanwhile check out my interview with Christina below.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to start Hair Romance
Growing up, my hair was a problem for me. I never knew how to style it. But that all changed when I had a haircut that changed my life. Suddenly my hair was easy to manage and so easy to style. I became best friends with my hairdresser and learned all the tricks.
It was a remark from a work colleague who suggested my hair deserved a daily blog because I never wore it the same way twice. I laughed at the idea but something stuck. I decided to start Hair Romance to share how I fell in love with my hair, and to inspire other women to have their own hair romance.
What are your top 5 hair essentials?
A great haircut, a good quality brush (or wide tooth comb for curly girls), a deep conditioning treatment, dry shampoo and styling powder. Oh, and some bobby pins. And mousse for curly hair…I find it hard to stop when I’m talking about hair!
What do you do to keep your hair in good nick over summer?
Summer is my favourite time of year but my hair has a love/hate relationship with this season. The sea gives me really defined curls but the humidity gives me a cloud of frizz.
I give my hair a rest from heat styling over the summer so I don’t dry it out. I deep condition my hair weekly with a moisturising masque and I keep a leave-in conditioner spray in my beach bag.
What is your go-to hairstyle for when you just don’t have time?
Braids or a top knot. A top knot is the easiest but braids don’t take me much longer to do, and everybody else thinks I went to a lot of effort. Braids are the perfect cover up for messy hair.
What is your advice for having a good head of hair?
Give yourself a regular head massage. Not only does it feel amazing, but it stimulates blood flow to your hair follicles which can in turn stimulate hair growth. Also, learn to love your hair the way it is. It will love you back.
What is next for Hair Romance?
I’m working on a new book all about curly hair. You’ll still find new tutorials every Tuesday on the blog and I’ll be bringing back the Salon Advice series to help women feel comfortable at the hairdresser. Plus a few more series planned for later in the year. You’d think after almost 5 years of blogging I’d run out of things to say about hair but I’m only just getting started.
