Lauren Marinis – Store Opening

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Lauren Marinis store opening, with my lovely friend Bec from Frocks & Crumpets.  You may remember the  Australian shoe label from my previous post and interview with the Melbourne designer (HERE).  The event was held at the beautiful new store in Rupert st, Collingwood last Saturday afternoon, and it was so great to be invited to share in the celebration of Lauren’s new store.

Staying true to her impeccable style Lauren has created a beautifully light and inspiring space, with sky-high pumps and gorgeous ankle boots displayed on their own individual pedestals, to showcase the works of arts that they really are.  It was such a fantastic night, with a combination of some of my favourite things, fashion, cheese, champagne and SHOES!!! I may have even left with a new pair of pumps and boots!

You can purchase Lauren Marinis Shoes at the online store HERE, but I definitely suggest you pop in to have a look at the beautiful presentation of incredible  shoes Lauren has to offer.  Store is open Wednesdays and Saturdays 11am-4pm at, 74 Rupert Street, Collingwood, VIC, 3066.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013

Last week, in-between a whirlwind of work, errands and outings, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week came and went.  I have finally gotten through watching the shows and am so excited for fashion this upcoming spring/summer, even though we’re only hitting colder weather now. Here are some of my favourite looks from MBFWA. It seems I have a thing for volume at the moment. It’s all about full skirts,  long vests, and roomy tops.

Happy Half Birthday

Lilt 6 months

Fashion blogs are going crazy at the moment with talk of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, which started yesterday morning.  It’s been driving me crazy that I have not yet had the chance to check out what Australian designers have in store for us this year. But yesterday kept me nice and busy, and so I only got small glimpses on what was going on from Twitter and Instagram.

Yesterday was a special day, as it was Grange’s mum’s birthday, and so my day was spent, working…then, dining, celebrating and stuffing my face with cake.

But it was also a special day for me, because it was exactly 6 months since I started Lilt-blog. I really enjoy posting on the blog and creating a little space where I can put my thoughts and inspirations, and although I have been a little quieter than usual these past couple of months, I have lots planned for the blogs future!  Thank you to anyone and everyone who checks out my blog posts, likes my statuses and reads my rambling thoughts.

So now I am going to celebrate this half birthday, with some left over cake, cup of tea and pretty pictures of whats been going on at MBFWA.

LIFEwithBIRD- Collide Dress

life with bird collide_dress_caterpillar caterpillarCurrently I’m slightly obsessed with the LIFEwithBIRD “Collide Dress”.  I’ve seen it floating around some magazines and in a couple of blogs lately, and my goodness, I WANT IT IN MY LIFE!  It’s the incredible mix of colours, and the quality of the digital print that has won my heart. The fact that it is by an Australian label and printed on stretch Silk Crepe De Chine, also helps. I have been keeping my eyes open for a new dress to wear to a formal occasion that I have coming up, but unfortunately this baby was way too short.  However I did pick up another LIFEwithBIRD number which is perfect for the occasion.  More on that bad boy later this week.

Gym Gear

Gym Gear
One of my goals this year is to start exercising more regularly.  A good way to bribe myself into actually doing it is purchasing some nice sports gear.  Did a little bit of online research today and found these beauties. Now… to organise my exercise regime.

Trend Spotting – Yellow Coats

Yellow CoatsI’ve been out of action for a while but I’m back!… Now, lets talk yellow coats, they have made a strong appearance on street style blogs and catwalks. Would love to get my hand on a nice tailored coat in such a bold colour.  What a lovely way to add a bit of sunshine to Autumn and Winter… Don’t you think?

These clever ladies have created a wonderful and colourful range of both interior and fashion products which are perfect for adding a pop of colour and liveliness to any outfit or interior.  From beautiful white ceramic vases, teapots and trays with splashes of neon colours, to beautiful fluro hand knitted necklaces and felt collars and bows.

On top of creating these great products both Sarah and Alessia are  also ARBV registered architects and provide services in Architecture, Interiors, Graphics, Branding, Exhibition Curation, and Product Design.

So smart! and also very kind, They have donated a super cute Felt Up Reversible Collar  for one of LiLT’s lucky readers. Unfortunately my budget doesn’t really allow for such extravagant purchases…but hey a girl can dream.  I have been invited to a black tie event which is happening soon and it’s got me thinking on what my options are for dressing up for the night.  Given that I don’t often go to black tie events, I’d love to be able to purchase something that I will be able to wear again. And the concept of this Carl Kapp dress really caught my attention.  A dress that can be worn in many different ways is quite appealing! Especially if one is to splurge on the $990 price tag.  The fact that the dress is essentially many different dresses, and that it is  quite classic in its style and colour, means that the dress wont really date and could be worn for years.  That makes the the price a little more justifiable…. No?
