Daylight savings has started, I’m officially on maternity leave, and it may not really feel like it in Melbourne this week, but spring is actually here. Oh and it was Lilt Blog’s birthday yesterday! 8 years. So it sure is cause for celebration!

I’m feeling super grateful for the sunny days we’ve had in Melbourne recently. But don’t let that sunshine fool you! It’s still bloody freezing out there!

Every year I feel tricked when September comes around and I do a little happy dance that spring has arrived. What I forget is that the cold lingers on longer than expected and so investing in good quality snuggly knitwear is always a good idea.

I’ve made it a goal this week to dress up for work each day even though I’m working from home during the stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne.

It’s particularly easy this week as I am hosting a bunch of presentations on zoom every day and want to look professional, but the goal is really to make an effort each day (even if small) to keep some routine going in day to day life.

I cannot believe I’m actually typing these words… but this week marks the last week of the second trimester in my pregancy! It seems bananas that I’ve been pregant for 6 months and theres only around 3 months left until we meet our new little family member.

The fact that I’m currently in week 27 is definitely making everything seem more ‘real’. My ever growing belly is now a very obvious daily reminder of the realities of what’s to come and in terms of clothing and fashion I find myself gravitating to two opposite options…. stretchy and tight or flowy and loose.

It seems strange to be sharing images of me out and about. Especially as my current daily activities include going from office to home and not much else. I haven’t even set foot in a supermarket for a couple of weeks now thanks to online shopping.

However, I really do love these images that were captured one Saturday morning, before lock down, in the Melbourne CBD by my lovely friend and photographer Lei Lei.

Designer Profile – Simetrie

There is something very special about Simétrie bags.  If you haven’t yet heard of this local Melbourne small business it’s worth paying attention.

In a world of fast fashion fads, Simétrie rejects the notion quick trend turnover and instead celebrates the balance of our human desire for style and the aesthetically pleasing, with consideration to our impact on the earth.
