And it so happens, that every holiday must come to an end. Today is the last post of photos from my recent trip to Queenstown New Zealand (you can check out the first two posts here and here)
I travelled to New Zealand knowing that it would be stunning, but the sheer epic beauty that surrounded me from every direction is something I cannot explain in words, and no picture really does it justice.
Since coming back I have strongly suggested to those close to me, that they should one day make the journey to this spectacular part of the world. So on that note if you ever find yourself in Queenstown here are the 10 top activities I recommend you partake in.
- Do yourself a favour and devour a famous Fergburger (standard Ferg with cheese is where it’s at) And trust me the line is worth it!
- Make sure you take a few days to ski. We hit up Coronet Peak and The Remarkables but I hear Cardrona is also good. (If you are going to hire ski or snowboard gear make sure you get it from the guys at Browns Ski Shop. They are super friendly and have an incredible service which allows customers to skip certain days of hire without losing your deposits if the weather is bad.
- Visit Amisfield for a luxurious long lunch. The “Trust the Chef” menu was to die for. You can purchase a lovely case of wine on the way out, and they offer FREE shipping to Australia. We loved the 2014 Pinot Gris, 2013 Dry Reisilng and 2011 Pinot Noir.
- Take a trip to Lake Wanaka and absolutely stop off at the Cardrona Hotel, where you can grab some marshmallows to toast by the fire while you sip on mulled wine.
- For the child at heart, Take a ride on the Skyline Gondola and spend a morning or afternoon riding the Queenstown Luge. If it’s snowing like crazy finish off with an epic snow fight.
- For delicious dinners out head to Rata, or Sherwood, they were both worth every penny. Unfortunately we didn’t make it there but we’ve heard Botswana Butchery is also worth the hype.
- If you care for a spot of shopping make sure you visit Angel Divine which stocks an impressive range of New Zealand and Australian designers. The boys got some rather handsome goodies from Barkers.
- I know there is an awful lot of food on this list, but you absolutely MUST try “Cookie Time” cookies. You can buy them front he supermarket, but there is also a Cookie Time shop in the centre of Queenstown. They are yummy if you eat them straight from the packet, but they are 100 times better when warmed up in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds.
- For fancy cocktails visit Eichardts. The atmosphere is moody and sophisticated and the cocktails are delicious. For something a bit more casual, but still serving quality cocktails stop by Bardeaux.
- Did I mention Fergburger yet? … Ok so if you don’t feel like a Fergburger (what’s wrong with you?), the Ferg establishment also sells delicious pies at the Fergbaker which is open until crazy o’clock (4:30am). Supposedly “mince and cheese” is the NZ way. And to top it all of Mrs Ferg also sells Gelato at the Ferg Gelateria next door!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my holidayposts! Have you been to Queenstown? What was your favourite part?
And I would love to know, do you want to see more travel content on the blog?

I absolutely love NZ! I went there with my sister a few years ago and we hired a car and drove around the South Island and then the North Island. We visited Queenstown but I didn’t get to spend a lot of time there – only a day, during which I bunjee jumped…. scariest and most exhilarating thing I’ve ever done! It was summer though so we didn’t get to ski 🙁 Loved all your photos! xx
Oh Belle that sounds like so much fun. Grange wanted to bungee but we didn’t get the time in the end.
We will definitely be going back to Queenstown and I think next time bungee will be on the cards
😘
